NEW YORK — September 20, 2016 – Dots, the acclaimed NYC creative game studio behind Dots, Two Dots and Dots & Co, today released an anthemic film featuring professional freestyle BMXer Nigel Sylvester. Best known for their minimalist aesthetic and elevated design, Dots releases the film as the first installation in their new “Play Beautifully” platform, which celebrates the creative and cultural endeavors of those who embody Dots’ brand ethos.
“With ‘Play Beautifully,’ we are collaborating with extraordinary individuals who can take the spirit of our brand and make it their own in a compelling and unique way,” said Ondriona Monty, Chief Marketing Officer, Dots. “Nigel Sylvester’s visceral riding and multi-faceted creative energy made him the perfect partner to capture the sense of curiosity and zen our users feel when playing a Dots game.”
The film follows Sylvester riding against an architectural nightscape in Los Angeles with elegant physicality and ballet-like grace through obstacles and illuminated colored “Dots” that mimic their iconic game board. Sylvester’s surreal performance was a product of Dots’ internal creative vision with original music produced by their in-house composers/producers Ross Wariner and Cody Uhler, who premiere an original, electronic track as the film’s score.
"The cinematic vibe and ambient music of this film encapsulate a curiosity I’ve wanted to explore creatively,” said Nigel Sylvester, professional freestyle BMX rider. "To me, ‘Play Beautifully’ embodies the aesthetic and skill of what I love to do and captures my craft in an elevated and poetic way."
The film will live on Dots’ owned channels and with select media partners throughout the fall. The film follows the company’s July release of Dots & Co, the third addition to their portfolio of games.
